Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I was here with a group of people from work, and even though they have Mexican food, is more Tex-Mex than real MX food. It's ok for lunch...but if you want to impress people from other areas, maybe not the right choice. Waiters are great and food is tasty...

We walked in on a Saturday at 7:30pm. There were many open tables and no wait, with reason. The host staff was nowhere to be seen. After waiting for 5 minutes, she finally took our name. As we waited as the hostess as she cleared tables, the manager walked aimlessly through the dining room more intent on sweeping then noticing the now growing guests waiting in the lobby. After another 5 plus minutes, the host finally appeared and instead greeted another group and decided to completely pass us up and seat a larger party. I should have listened to my family who said we should have already left after the first 5 minutes. I wanted to speak with the manager, to see why the service was so lacking. His simple response was not an apology, but only I can seat you now. I could have been seated 15 minutes prior at the 10 open tables. With so many options, this type of service explains the low scores and why Don Pablo's close units.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant! The food did not look or taste authentic, and the sour cream I ordered with my enchiladas was green! I'm not sure if it was supposed to be green, it could have been food coloring, however it was unsettling nonetheless. Speaking of the enchiladas, the meat inside them didn't really look like chicken, and they didn't appeal to my taste buds at all. They honestly looked like a Banquet meal! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, even if I was threatened to do so! 1/10, never again!

Sit at the bar and have Lacy pour you a tall one. Great service.

They have lost their way. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Lunch here today (Sunday at 3pm) was ridiculous. There was no hostess. They led me to a table that hadn't been cleaned yet. It took 15 minutes just to get drinks. My appetizer came out two minutes before the food. It took over an hour for the food to come. I had a similar experience about a month ago. I don't think I will ever return. They lost a big fan!!!

We had a very good meal. I had the Cinco combo which was very filling. My wife had the chicken chimi Chonga which also look very good. Service was fast.... dinner arrived 5-10 minutes after we ordered it. Our waitress (server 9010) was great! She kept the chips and salsa coming to our table and stopped by several times to check in on us. Thanks!

Not 'authentic' Mexican, but still 100% amazing. The wait staff usually is poor, but your get free chips/salsa/fresh tortillas, which are absolutely amazing! I also love the dip sampler, tacos salads, fajitas, el matador, and flautas! Margaritas and sangria are also great! Amazing food!
(5)Michael B.
Salsa? Mainly just diced tomatoes. Food? Tex-mex versions of authentic dishes. Service? Dreadful. You'll have to beg for refills and anything more than getting your main course. Price? About 20% more than usual Conclusion: Save money and get better service at a real Mexican restaurant. If you wonder why it's easy to find a table on prime nights, just give it a shot. You'll definitely be disappointed.

Very Americanized place. If your looking for authentic Mexican, this is not the place for you. The food was good, and large serving size. I would prob not come back anytime soon. Also we just got our fried ice cram and it's just not very good. Nice try don, maybe next time.
(3)Joe N Jo J.
Terrible service. Hostess was rude. We left after 10 minutes without water chips or salsa. We headed to Los Aztecas and you should too.

I'm writing this review in a Meijer bathroom stall just minutes after eating here... Enough said. End of review.

I meet my friends from Kalamazoo here when I go back to MI to visit. Helpful staff. Yummy burritos. Cold beer.
(3)Taylor L.
Went here for a birthday with my family. Food was good, service was good, waitress Tara was very cute and nice. Pretty standard Mexican-American fare. I wish the salsa was better, and whatever hot sauce they use is spicy but doesn't taste good. I try to stick to non spicy dishes because of this.
(4)Joel M.
Meh... The shrimp in my fajitas still had a good portion of their digestive vein.

Don Pablos for lunch today was very average. Service was a little slow, but not too bad for a Sunday. I had 3 pork tacos, tex mex rice, and refried beans. The tacos were pretty good, but the rice was very average and tasted like something out of a box. The refried beans were very average, but edible. Overall it was ok, but nothing to write home about. I think next time I will just go to a locally owned place instead of a chain.
(3)Michael D.
My experience with Don Pablo's was not very good. My wife and I ate there and the service was slow, they seated us at these uncomfortable tables at the time with high bar stools, and my wifes food was uncooked. We had to involve the waitress in getting the food sent back to the kitchen to get it cooked properly. In general, despite the mistake of the cold food, the menu looked pretty good and the restaurant is close to the Lakeview Square mall. I do not think I would eat there again, as I have had better.
(2)Jason F.
I head to this don pablos every time I go to Battle Creek. The food is good, and the service is better. Other reviews claim that Don Pablos isn't authentic, but that goes without saying. They purport to be tex-mex, not just mex.... and who wants mexican rats in their foood anyway. Not me!
(4)Michael G.
The service was awesome when I went there and the dessert was really good 4 stars all the way
(4)Adri B.
This is the Olive Garden of Mexican food. Not AMAZING but not horrible either. I will admit that I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob. This is the only place in Battle Creek where you will find decent fish tacos, inexpensive margaritas, and decent salsa. The staff is great.
(3)Daniel A.
I've had dinner here a few times and I have been impressed. You'll have to excuse me - I really don't care if my Mexican is authentic - so this "TexMex" place is great for me. The food is really good. The staff is great. Apparently it is a chain, but it still serves up good food.
(4)Jonathan W.
Busy on a Saturday dinner, service was average however appetizer came out fairly quickly. Waitress did come by to apologize, reason was due to large order before ours. Desert was good but was microwaved.
